As part of its community outreach effort, MBSC had coordinated an
impressive Speakers Bureau. A dedicated group of volunteers shared information
at no-charge to community service organizations, churches, schools, nonprofits,
and other interested groups. MBSC previously promoted more than 70 different
workshops designed to help the community better understand holistic practice and
complementary/alternative medicine (CAM).
These MBSC member
practitioners, whom we lovingly refered to as VIP's because they are "Very
Important Practitioners", have experience teaching or giving public
presentations. They generously volunteered their time and talents. This helped
MBSC promote an enhanced understanding of various holistic modalities that
can lead to improved health.
The Community Outreach Committee
established a set of guidelines and an application/control process to help
ensure that the Speakers Bureau was a highly-effective and professional source of
information for the public. Although the volunteer speakers may have benefitted by
gaining exposure to potential new clients, Speakers Bureau engagements were
educational programs; they were not used to promote the speaker’s practice or
solicit business.
A description of the no-charge workshops and
volunteer speakers is available as a pdf. Click here for a complete listing.
